TORRE DE COLLSEROLA - TOWER

The 1992 Summer Olympics were accompanied by the creation of a new symbol of the city of Barcelona, whitch took its place beside the Sagrada Familia and the Columbus Monument. Since the holding of the Games. Barcelona has also been known for a tower erected on Vilana hill: the Collserola Communication Tower, designed and built by Norman Foster with the collaboration of the company Ove Arup & Partners, after his project won a restricted competition that was held by the City Council of Barcelona in 1988. The antenas for radio and television, radio-telephone services and microwave links that had been scattered about Collserola mountains for years, are now gathered in a single point, a tower rising 268 metres in height. This is the city’s tallest building and it features a public lookout on its 10th floor.
